Energy
Many of the studies I have worked on in the last 15 years have involved energy reduction, either as the primary objective of the study, or as an important secondary objective, e.g., to revamp a process for increased capacity and incorporate energy saving measures into the design.
I have complete familiarity with many of the techniques used for analysing a process or site for energy savings, such as:
- Pinch technology, including total site and analysis of sub-ambient utility systems
- Distillation column analysis, including column profiling
- Utility system modelling to determine current performance and predict future performance after energy saving measures are implemented
- Performance evaluation for key energy-related equipment items, e.g., compressors, turbines, fired heaters
- Gap analysis, to determine the key differences between current and potential energy performance
The end result of any energy study is to produce a concise list of real, practical energy saving measures that can be adopted. This can involve a combination of operational changes and small or large capital projects.
